Dapple greys are still a firm favourite when it comes to rocking horses!
This is Cygnet, a small -medium sized horse that I chose to finish in a soft dapple, using warmer shades of brown as you would expect of his name.
Cygnet is the other new horse I acquired from Classic Rocking Horses after the sad passing of their founder. He was beautifully carved, but left as bare wood and without a stand, but a perfect blank canvas for me to add my stamp to.
I'm not sure what breed he would be if he were real, I have had suggestions from Connemara Pony, to Andalusian, Welsh to Arabian. For me I think he has a little Thoroughbred in him, but maybe crossed with a Andalusian. No DNA testing available though unfortunately!
I chose to kit him out with fully removable, black dressage tack. This has been made to my designs by a wonderful master saddler, that puts up with all my requests!
Although my work is principally intended as artwork, this truly is a solid little horse that would be fit for use if you so choose.
He measures 38" (97cm) to the highest point of his neck, with a body length of 20" and a height to the saddle measuring around 30". His stand is 43" (110cm) in length and 15" (38cm) in width. Therefore he's approximately the same size as a Lines size 2 or a Stevenson Bros medium.
