This is Gem, so named as when he arrived, I combed out his mane and a large paperclip fell out, sometimes known as a Gem clip, so that was that!
Although I can't put an exact date on him, we know JR Smith traded in London from 1886 until 1916, meaning this horse is certainly over 100 years old.
This one, unusually, has come to me in great condition! He looks like he's been recently restored to a really high standard.
He has a wonderful silver grey, horse hair mane and tail, (the most sought after colour!) and good quality leather tack.
He measures 39" (99 cm) to the highest point of his neck, with a 21" body length. His stand is 44" (102 cm) long by 16" (41 cm) wide.
He would be perfect as a display piece, but I'm sure would be happy to have a child sit on him.
Collection welcome from my home in Gloucester, or I would be happy to arrange a courier.
