This is a rare and unusual example of a Woodrow rocking Horse who also traded as Swallow Toys in the 1930's and 40's. Woodrow horses are relatively rare anyway, but most examples that are seen are very similar in design to the Lines 21, but this horse has a different stance and a chunkier body, making him very appealing.
He was restored to the highest standards a couple of years ago, by Mary Mahler, a very talented and experienced restorer, and was a special commission for one of her clients. He came to me recently on sales livery as his owner is downsizing and needed to reduce her collection.
I have made some minor alterations to him, including a new mane and tail, a new saddle in keeping with original Woodrow design and new bridle work, which has all been aged down to match his mostly original paintwork (he has had restoration to the head and neck)
He measures 45" to the highest point of his neck (plus half an inch for his mane!). He has a 24" body length and his stand is 48" long x 16.5" wide.
He is currently stabled with me in Gloucestershire, but I am happy to arrange a courier if needed.
