Poppet, is just that, a little sweety!
She was made by JR Smith and although I can't put an exact date on her , we know JR Smith traded in London from 1886 until 1916, meaning this horse is certainly over 100 years old.
She came in a dreadful state, overpainted black and white with her eyes filled in 😢. She now has new paintwork, in the the style of Smith, with an aged effect patina . Her stand is original and although the brackets are not typical. I believe they are also original to the horse. 
She has real horsehair mane and tail and calf skin tack.
 
She measures just 32" (81 cm) to the highest point of her neck, with a 17" body length. His stand is 38" (957cm) long by 14" (36 cm) wide.
 
He would be perfect as a display piece, but I'm sure would be happy to have a gentle child sit on him occasionally.
