I'm very excited to introduce Proto, an Iberian horse, and the first of my most realistic designs that I would like to share with you. After a lifetime of working with horses and many years as an artist, I have had a burning desire to create something more lifelike than you will find with any other rocking horses.
Proto is the first, of what I class as my "Half Sized" rocking horse, a decorative piece, being approximately half the size of a size 2 Lines horse.
He Measures 18” to his highest point when sitting on his bows, which measure 3’ in length and 9” in width, making him the perfect size for a tabletop or shelf
Proto is an Artists Edition, 3D printed horse, which has been sanded, gessoed and painted as you would a traditional rocking horse, with glass eyes and real hair.
I chose to do him in this rich rose grey, which to me is the first colour that springs to my mind when I think of the noble Andalusian horse.
His paintwork is many layers of Pan Pastels, which are sealed between each coat and his beautiful wavy mane and tail complete the look.
His bows are made from reclaimed Victorian oak shelves, which have been sealed with a hard wax oil.
He will be signed by myself and come with his own padded travel cover, brass name plate and be delivered in a wooden crate

ARTISTS EDITION
Digitally Sculpted & Printed - Mounted on Reclaimed Hardwood Bows - Fully Hand Finished 
This edition is the most environmentally friendly solution I could find, being printed in a sustainable, composite material that is based on corn starch but is also durable and able to stand the test of time. Each horse is then painstakingly prepared by hand, a gesso layer added and then hand painted using Pan Pastels and several coats of high-quality matt varnish. They are finished with real hair on hide, (I can try to accommodate other options if required). The bows are made from reclaimed Hardwood. And can be painted, stained or waxed.

COLLECTORS EDITION
Solid Ash - CNC Carved - Hand Carved Detailing - Artist Hand Finished
The Collectors Edition is a fully carved horse, using CNC machining to give accurate repeatable results, which then need many hours of hand carving to add in the detail and refine each one to an individual finish. I chose Ash as they are local trees that have been sadly felled due to Ash Die Back Disease. The timber itself is just as structurally strong but has quite beautiful dark grain running through it. So, it gives both a fantastic quality product that can be hand painted or polished, without needlessly contributing to the felling of healthy trees. The horse can then be finished exactly as the Artists edition, or simply polished, to reveal the beaty of the wood.
