Watson is a stunning extra carved G&J Lines horse That dates to approximately 1910.

He measures just over 39"(100cm) to the top of his neck, his body length is approximately 21"(53cm) and his stand measures 43 1/4" (110cm) long x 15" wide (38cm). The brackets where stamped with a no.2 , so I believe that makes him a size 2.

He came to me in a very poor state, with thick gloss overpaint and a broken leg. I carved a new leg for him firstly, then realised his original paint was still intact underneath the layers of gloss.

After many hours, carefully scraping, his paintwork was resealed and the repairs colour matched.

He has a new horse hair mane and tail, calfskin tack with a deerskin saddle seat, brass Tudor rose badges and raw linen rosettes all which have been carefully aged to keep him looking as authentic as possible.

The stand has quite a lot of worm damage, which has been thoroughly treated,  but still seems to be solid, so I chose not to replace any of it, to keep it's originality, but the holes have been filled with wax to make it a little more presentable.

I'm really pleased with how he has turned out, fingers crossed he'll fair well for the next 100 years!
